Avoid using lotions before using your groomer. Be certain hair length attachment is at the desired setting. When first using, you may want to begin on the highest setting (longest hair) to prevent trimming off too much hair initially. For first-time use or if groomer has not been used for a long period of time, you will need to recharge the battery for 14-16 hours (overnight) to enjoy full capacity of cordless operation. Use only the adapter provided with the unit. Comb hairs outward so they are at their maximum height and facing in the same direction. Never use groomer with damaged or broken cutter units. Operating Your Groomer CONGRATULATIONS on the purchase of your new Precision® Pivoting Personal Groomer. It contains all the attachments and accessories needed to maintain a well-groomed look on your beard, mustache, sideburns, neckline, nose, ears and eyebrows. As with all Remington products, your groomer has been manufactured with the utmost care and attention to detail to ensure years of reliable use. Using your groomer is easy, but take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these instructions. Charging/Recharging Follow these simple steps: Be sure groomer is turned off. Connect the adapter cord to the charging stand and then adapter into electric wall outlet. Charging indicator will glow red, indicating groomer is properly charging. A full charge will take approx. 14-16 hours. Your groomer cannot be overcharged, so you can leave it plugged in and charging between uses. However, if the unit is not going to be used for an extended period of time (2-3 months), unplug unit and fully recharge when use is resumed. Only use the adapter supplied with groomer. Charging should be done at temperatures between 40° and 95° Fahrenheit or it could adversely affect battery life. The PG-300 is designed only for cordless operation. Your PG-300 personal groomer comes with (NiMH) Nickel Metal Hydride environmentally safe batteries. TO TRIM EDGE OF MUSTACHE Remove hair length attachment. Mustache hairs should be dry and without any waxes or lotions before using trimmer. Use the unit's styling comb or a small comb to comb hairs straight for trimming. Hold groomer with trimmer cutting blade facing you. Trim hairs using a downward motion following the direction of your hair growth or trim against your hair growth, whichever is preferred. NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same direction, you may want to try different trimming positions (i.e., upwards, downwards or across). Practice is best for optimum results. After achieving desired length, use a downward motion to blend mustache hairs. NOTE: Use slow and light pressure. Too much pressure may trim off more hair than desired. Turn groomer off. TO TRIM SIDEBURNS Comb sideburns following the direction of your hair growth. Be certain hair length attachment is ON. Hold groomer vertically with front of groomer facing you. Trim sideburns using a downward motion. Turn groomer OFF. Trimming Beards or Mustaches Before you begin, comb your hair in the direction that it grows so that the hairs are at their maximum height and facing in the same direction. Before you begin, make sure that the wide trimmer blade is in the up position. If the narrow, nose and ear trimmer is up, press the button on the back of trimmer head to allow the pivoting head to swivel the wide trimmer (beard/neckline) to the up position. Place the hair length attachment on the groomer's trimmer head and determine how much hair you want to cut. Remember, until you are familiar with using the groomer, it's always better to select a longer hair setting initially in order not to trim too much hair. Turn the groomer's power switch to ON, and begin trimming. Start trimming under your chin and, following your jawbone line, work toward your ear and upper beard line using an upward motion. Allow the hair length attachment to follow the contours of your face. When finished trimming, turn the unit's power switch to OFF. Hair Length Attachment The hair length attachment controls the length of the cut. There are four positions for each attachment: Hair Length Attachment 1 Hair Length Attachment 2 0 Extra Close 0 Medium 1 Close 1 Medium Long 2 Short 2 Long 3 Medium Short 3 Extra Long To fasten the hair length attachment, place the front hooks on the hair length attachment over the front of the groomer's trimmer head, and pivot onto backside of the groomer's trimmer head to lock into place. To remove, push up on tab on back of hair length attachment. 1 2 For assistance or help, call our customer service at 800-736-4648 in the U.S. or 888 277-6333 in Canada. G03-041 pg-300 web ib 9/1/05 9:45 AM Page 3 Trimming the Nape of Your Neck You will need a hand mirror for this operation if performing it alone. The mirror is not necessary if trimming is performed by a second person. Before you begin, remove the hair length attachment, and make sure that the wide trimmer blade is in position. If the narrow, nose and ear trimmer is up, press the button on the back of trimmer head to allow the pivoting head to swivel the wide trimmer (beard/neckline) to the up position. Use your fingers to lift the hair at the base of your head up off the neck. Your index finger should be covering the roots of the hairs you are lifting to prevent accidental removal by groomer. Using your other hand, hold the groomer horizontally to the base of your neck with the cutting unit facing up, and move the groomer along the length of the neck until the unit touches your finger covering the hair roots at the base of your head. Repeat this procedure for the entire area of the neck. Be sure to move the unit slowly when performing this operation and to keep the hair roots at the base of your head out of the way of the groomer. Use the hand mirror to inspect the results of the operation and ensure all hairs along the nape of the neck have been trimmed. The Best Technique for Nose & Ear Before you begin, press the button on the back of trimmer head to allow the pivoting head to swivel and change the wide trimmer (beard/neckline) to the narrow, nose and ear trimmer. Here are a few tips for trimming the various parts of your face. To remove hair from nose: Nose, ear, eyebrow attachment should be in position. Turn groomer on. Insert groomer's cutting unit gently into the nostril. Rotate groomer in a circular motion around the opening of the nostril. For best cutting efficiency, gently move the groomer in and out of the nostril as you rotate the groomer. Avoid inserting the groomer more than 1/4" into your nostril to ensure safe trimming. To remove hair from ear: Nose, ear, eyebrow attachment should be in position. Turn groomer on. Insert groomer's cutting unit gently into the outer ear canal opening. Gently rotate groomer in a circular motion. To trim hairs protruding from the surface of the ear surrounding the outer ear canal, guide the groomer around the edge of the ear. Avoid inserting the groomer more than 1/4" into your ear canal to ensure safe trimming. To remove hair from eyebrows: Nose, ear, eyebrow attachment should be in position. Turn groomer on. Gently guide cutting unit to stray, unwanted hairs along the eyebrow line or protruding from the eyebrow itself. Move the unit slowly and carefully so as not to accidentally cut any hairs you do not intend to trim. It is not recommended that you use the groomer to define or trim the entire eyebrow. Changing Attachments Remove an attachment by pushing the back of the attachment forward to release the rear latch. Insert an attachment by inserting the front first, then rocking back to set the rear latch. Be careful not to press down on the foil on the shaver attachment, as it is delicate. To Use the MiniScreen Shaver: Cleaning & Maintenance Hold the groomer so the mini screen gently touches your face. This allows the unit to work the way it was designed for the closest shave and minimum screen wear. Avoid holding the groomer at an angle. This will distort the screen and may cause some skin irritations. Use short, detail strokes to trim around your beard/mustache. Use your free hand to stretch your skin. This encourages your whiskers to stand out, making it easier for them to enter the cutting chamber. Please note: The MiniScreen shaver was designed to shave the detail areas around your beard/mustache/sideburns. It was not designed to shave your entire facefor a close comfortable shave, guaranteed, use one of Remington's electric razors. To Define the Beard Line Remove the hair length attachment. Hold groomer with trimmer cutting blade facing you. Start with edge of beard line, and with the cutting blades resting lightly against your skin, use motions toward edge of beard line to trim the beard line to desired locations in facial area and away from beard in neck area. Cleaning and Maintaining Your Groomer Clean your groomer regularly to ensure your unit's operating life is not prematurely shortened. Groomer should always be shut off during cleaning. Do not apply pressure or hard objects to cutters. Do not use harsh or corrosive cleaners on unit or cutters. Cleaning with brush Thoroughly brush and blow out hair clippings from cutter, bottom of attachments and top of power handle. Lubrication Cutters are permanently lucricated at the factory. Do not rinse the cutters with water or any other liquid. Clean only by brushing hair clippings out of cutter areas. To Thin and Taper the Beard Remove the hair length attachment. Use the unit's styling comb or a small comb to comb and hold the beard hairs in place while trimming. Holding the groomer with the cutting unit facing away from you, move the groomer along the length of the comb. G0 ...
